Survival Showdown Mindset Challenge | EP 01

Let's start 2021 off right with the first episode of a new concept.
Big thanks to Tier III Patrons, Adam Banks and "Call me Colonel" (Tim) for stepping up and going head to head in the first challenge.
I also want to throw a thank you to Nutrient Survival for sponsoring this first episode and providing an awesome prize. Check them out to prep long term food storage. https://nutrientsurvival.com/ve
The Challenge
*HYPOTHETICAL SITUATION*
A virus has ravaged the country for the previous year. Following one of the most controversial elections in history, a vaccine is quickly introduced and will be mandatory via the government.
You have decided that you do not want to take it.
You are about to bug out to the woods with your family forever. You have 15 min and $125 in a popular sporting goods store.
What do you grab and why?
Some areas to consider:
- Food - (covered by Nutrient Survival in this challenge)
- Water
- Shelter
- Medical
- Defense
- Fire
- Clothing
Let us know in the comments below any items you think would have also been good to consider for this challenge.
The idea behind this exercise is to get your mind working to cover multiple bases quickly and be able to automatically apply this information if/when necessary.
We'll be doing more of these throughout the year and are excited to get more Patrons involved.
Buckle up!

Enjoyed this for sure. Just like others, I def felt sketched out by the shady individuals in the silver sedan during the intro. I actually thought it was some elaborate part of the challenge. Turns out it was just just some Tennessee’ins doing Tennessee things. I have to say I’m a bit disappointed in the “medical kit” that was acquired and passed as acceptable. Can’t be too big of a stickler with civilians I guess. Looking forward to more like this.

Great vid very entertaining! I saw a silver 2000’s silver import 4 door sedan over your left shoulder while you were on the tailgate in the parking lot. I believe there were 2 people at lone 6’ male in a hi viz jacket. They were in and out of the trunk and both side doors /back doors. This was as the guys took their hoodwink off. I watched the vid only once so that’s all I got but I’d be looking at that action…..caught my eye. Then I’d go shop.

Printed maps (like an atlas/gazetteer) and a compass for those times when an electronic map isn’t available. A waterproof container or two wouldn’t hurt either.

Great entertaining vid!! I watched it once….. What I saw was over your left shoulder while you were sitting on the tailgate…4 door silver sedan, guy in and out of the trunk and doors both sides and think there was two of them, one in hi viz vest. That’s what I would have keyed onto once taking off the hoodwink. I’ll throw that in there. Thanks

You basicly put them through the same senario you and Mike Glover did awhile back.

Good stuff! This is bringing some good thoughts to mind. I think for the tie breaker question, I would consider dropping my family off and locate my vehicle farther away and meet up with them later via a circuitous route. Other ideas involve crossing or traveling up or down a shallow body of water should some “evil entity” be looking for tracks and/or if they have a tracking dog. For this amount of money, I think just about anyone could put together a very basic kit and be ready for various natural or man made threats. Keep up the good work!

I not gonna say I would have done this or that differently or better, that’s armchair quarterbacking.
I will say that this was a great lesson for them and everyone watching this video. As always you are right on point and accomplished your goal to get us all thinking and getting us in the mindset.
Thanks-
— Vinny
Multipurpose survival knife, cord or rope you can’t go wrong with. I’m new to this site and I want to express my gratitude and thank you for your service. Look forward to following your post and learning new pointers. Thank’s
